Meet the Founder – Ann
My History
I am a 5th-generation farmer, and the land is not just where I work—it’s who I am. My roots run deep in the Gullah Geechee soil of St. Simons Island, Georgia. I grew up on stories of resilience, of people who knew how to grow food, raise animals, and steward the land because their very survival depended on it. That knowledge didn’t come from a textbook. It came from hands that had been working the earth for generations.
That heritage is the foundation of everything I do today.
At Geechee Rooted Farms, I carry that legacy forward, by honoring it with intention. I believe that farming should be a partnership with the land, not a conquest of it. That means raising animals with dignity, growing food without shortcuts, and treating every living thing, from the bees to the chickens to the soil, with the respect it deserves.
My Education
I am a current fellow of the University of Florida Master Beekeeping Program, where I am deepening my understanding of bee health, hive management, and the ecological importance of pollinators. I believe that the best farming is rooted in knowledge and that knowledge is meant to be shared.
Whether I’m teaching a family how to host a hive, rescuing a colony from a backyard, or carefully packaging eggs for a neighbor, I approach every task with the same philosophy: stewardship over extraction, connection over convenience.
My Legacy
Geechee Rooted Farms is not just a business. It is a living connection to the land, to my ancestors, and to the future I am building for my family and community. Every egg, every jar of honey, every hive I relocate carries the weight of that responsibility and the joy of doing work that matters.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting a farm that is rooted in heritage, grounded in stewardship, and growing toward something beautiful.
